My Journey Begins
Welcome to **Life in Progress Diaries**—my little corner of the internet. My name is Tae, and I’m so glad you’re here. I’ll admit, starting this blog feels a little nerve-wracking. I’m not exactly a social media or blogging expert—in fact, I’m more of a quiet, private person. But something about this moment feels right, like it’s time to step out of my comfort zone and share my journey with you.
A bit about me: I’m 33, and for the past year and a half, I’ve been living in South Korea. Before that, I lived in England—specifically in my parents’ home, where I’d stayed my entire life. Moving out for the first time is a big deal, but moving to another country for the first time? That’s a whole other level.

It wasn’t a decision I made lightly. Before making the move, I spent three months in Korea to see if it was the right fit. Those three months were intense—amazing, challenging, and eye-opening all at once. Visiting was expensive, but I knew I had to experience it firsthand before committing to such a big change. Spoiler: I fell in love with the country.
But here’s the thing: visiting and living somewhere are two completely different experiences. I quickly realized that settling into life here would come with its own unique struggles—learning the language, adapting to cultural differences, and dealing with things like getting sick far from home. Still, I don’t regret my decision. Moving here has been one of the most rewarding and transformative choices I’ve ever made.
Why I’m Starting Life in Progress Diaries
So, why am I here, writing this blog? Honestly, it’s partly for me—a way to document my journey, reflect on what I’m learning, and maybe even build a little more confidence along the way. But it’s also for anyone else who might find themselves navigating a similar path.
When I first moved to Korea, I found a lot of comfort in reading about other people’s experiences. Their stories made me feel less alone and gave me practical advice for settling into a new country. That sense of connection and inspiration is something I want to give back. If sharing my story can help even one person, it’ll all be worth it.
What Life in Progress Diaries Is About
I’ll be honest with you: this blog isn’t going to be about just one thing. My life right now is a mix of so many experiences, and I want to capture all of it. Here’s a little of what you can expect:
- Personal growth and self-discovery—learning to better myself, step by step.
- Romanticizing life—finding magic in the small, everyday moments.
- Exploring Korea—its culture, food, hidden gems, and unique quirks.
- Health and fitness—let’s call this a work in progress.
- Learning new things—whether it’s a skill, a recipe, or just a new perspective.

Most importantly, I want this blog to feel like a conversation. I love storytelling, and my hope is to take you along for the ride. Imagine sitting down with a friend over coffee and chatting about life’s highs, lows, and everything in between. That’s the kind of space I want to create here.
A Vision for Life in Progress Diaries
At its heart, this blog is about documenting my journey—sharing the wins, the struggles, and all the lessons in between. But I also dream of making it something more.
One day, I’d love for Life in Progress Diaries to be a resource for others, especially those considering a move to Korea or navigating big changes in their lives. Moving abroad is exciting, yes, but it’s also overwhelming. There’s so much to learn, and I’d love to share the tips, hacks, and stories that have made a difference for me.
I also hope this becomes a space where we can connect. If you’ve ever felt like you’re starting over, chasing a dream, or just trying to figure it all out, you’re not alone. Share your stories with me—I’d love to hear them.
Starting this blog is a leap into the unknown for me. It’s not just about trying something new; it’s about letting myself be seen, flaws and all. And while that’s scary, it’s also exciting.
One of my favourite quotes has been guiding me through this process:
“It always seems impossible until it’s done”

If you’re reading this, thank you for being here. Thank you for giving me the chance to share my story, to take this first step. I’m so excited to see where this journey takes us.
Here’s to new beginnings, unexpected adventures, and finding the courage to embrace life’s uncertainties.
