Somehow, somewhere along the line, I blinked and my apartment turned into a chaos zone. And now here I am, standing at the foot of Mount Doom Pile — the ever-growing, slightly shame-inducing mountain of “I’ll deal with it later” that has officially reached new heights. Honestly, it’s impressive. Terrifying, but impressive. At the top of my “get it together” list is tackling this Doom Pile. It’s been glaring at me for days. Maybe weeks? (don’t judge.)
But that’s not all.
I also have a confession:
A few days ago, I somehow managed to dropkick my tea across the room. Not my finest athletic moment. The tea splashed onto my sheets and EVERYWHERE — and, being the responsible adult I aspire to be, I immediately stripped the bed and. Cleaned the floor and window and bed frame.
…And then left the sheets, perfectly bundled, next to the washing machine.
For days.
In my defense, I pass them every day and think “I’ll do it later,” which totally counts for something… right?
Then there’s the kitchen. And the bathroom. And let’s not even talk about the dusty air vent that somehow collected enough dust to start its own ecosystem. Like, how?! So rude!
Also, trash and recycling.
Why is it that no matter how small the apartment, the trash somehow multiplies overnight like it’s hosting secret parties while I sleep?
All this to say: it’s time.
It’s time to stop side-eyeing the mess and actually do something about it.
Since I have a little vacation time coming up (finally!), I’m planning to sit down and map out a week that’s part relax and recharge and part Operation: Reclaim My Apartment and part get back on track.
I want to enjoy myself, yes — but also feel like I’m setting future me up for a much calmer, more organised life. Because honestly, nothing makes me feel like I have my life together more than clean sheets, an empty laundry basket, and a floor you can actually see.
Wish me luck. (And maybe a new un-spillable mug. I clearly can’t be trusted with tea anymore.)
Final note: I was Supposed post this on Sunday evening… did I? No. But I’ve written so many posts that never get posted because it’s no longer on the day it was written about.
