Hello and welcome to Life in Progress Diaries! – My first ever Blog post.
As the year comes to a close, I’ve been taking some time to reflect on everything that’s happened—the highs, the lows, and all the lessons in between. Looking back, I feel a deep sense of pride in what I’ve achieved this year. From moving cities and setting up a new home to making small but meaningful changes in my life, I can confidently say that this year has been one of growth and discovery.
Life isn’t always smooth sailing, but as I stand at the edge of a new year, I can’t help but feel excited for what’s next. Small steps have been taking me toward the life I want to create for myself, and while I’m still figuring out exactly what that looks like, I’m proud to be on this journey.
Looking Back on 2024
If I had to sum up this past year in one word, it would be **roller coaster**. It’s been full of ups and downs, but also a year of firsts—a year where I’ve learned more about myself than I ever thought possible.
Here are three moments that stand out as especially memorable:
1. Navigating Chaos at Work
In March, my workplace faced a staffing crisis. I was the only foreign teacher left at the academy, juggling new students, unfamiliar books, and the pressure of training new staff. It felt like everything was on my shoulders—but I managed. Looking back, I’m amazed at how I rose to the challenge. It wasn’t easy, but it taught me resilience and reminded me of my strength.
2. Moving to Busan
Packing up and moving from Gwangju to Busan was another milestone. For the first time, it felt like I was truly moving—not just clothes, but all my belongings, from furniture to plants. I couldn’t have done it without the support of friends who helped me pack, load, and settle into my new apartment. Now, I’m in a home I love, in a city that feels like the right fit for me.
3. Starting the Gym
I’ve always struggled with gym memberships—feeling too self-conscious or unsure of what to do. But this year, I pushed past those insecurities and started going regularly. It’s been a huge confidence booster, and I’m so proud of myself for sticking with it. If I can tackle the gym, I can tackle anything.

Lessons Learned
This year has taught me a lot, but one lesson stands out above all: **it always works out.** Stress has been a constant companion, but I’ve learned to trust myself and the process. Most problems have a solution, and I’m capable of finding it.
I’ve also learned the importance of taking care of myself—physically and mentally. A flare-up of my ulcerative colitis was a tough reminder to listen to my body, take my medication consistently, and manage stress better. Self-kindness is something I’ll continue to work on in the coming year.
Looking Ahead
As I look to 2025, my priorities are clear:
– Be proud of myself.
– Gain confidence in who I am and what I can do.
– Trust myself to handle whatever comes my way.
I have so many goals I’m eager to start, from building healthier routines to trying new things. One of my biggest dreams is to finally wear a hanbok—a goal I’ve avoided because of my insecurities. This year, I’m determined to make it happen, not only to achieve a dream but to prove to myself that I can embrace who I am.
Another exciting step is launching this blog and my Instagram page to document my journey. My hope is to share my experiences, help others who might be on a similar path, and celebrate the small wins along the way.
One thing that’s helped me reflect on this year is going through my camera roll. It’s amazing how much you forget until you see a photo that takes you back to a specific moment. Another thing that’s helped is the Winter Arc Challenge I started in October. It’s given me a head start on some of my goals, and I plan to carry that momentum into the new year.
If you’re preparing for 2025, here’s my advice: start small. Progress doesn’t have to be perfect; it just has to move you forward. Celebrate the little things, because they add up to big changes.
I’m so excited to see what the new year brings, and I’d love to hear about your reflections and goals. What’s a lesson you’ve learned this year? What are you most excited for in 2025? Let’s grow together.
